Bike Down a Volcano
Enjoy views from the crater and a van tour through the park before descending from 6500ft, coasting 28 miles downhill. Ride through the lush town of Kula where you will stop and enjoy a “no-host” breakfast or lunch at the delicious Sunrise Country Market and Flower Farm. Finish you ride in the historic seaside town of Paia.
Included in the tour: Professional tour guides Round-trip transportation from your hotel or condo Hot & cold beverages and muffins at “base camp,” Park entrance fees, bikes & gear (DOT approved helmets, gloves, wind-stopper fleece, Gortex™ rain suits) Saffety instruction. A van driver and “cruise leader” accompany all tours. The cruise leader escorts the riders from the pole position, while the “chase van” driver attentively follows behind. Both guides are in constant radio contact with each other and the “base camp” in Kahului. Is is for me? Unguided Sunrise Special
SUNRISE SPECIAL
The Sunrise special leaves the Haiku location two hours before sunrise, arriving at Haleakala's 10,023' summit about an hour before sunrise. You watch the sun come up over the crater, a truly spectacular sight. Mark Twain described sunrise at the summit of Haleakala, "...the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed". Some call it the eighth wonder of the world, others call it a "power center". It is all that and more. At once forbidding and compelling, Haleakala National Park is Maui's main natural attraction. Just going up the mountain is quite an experience, let alone biking down! No where else can you climb from sea level to 10,023' in less than an hour. At the summit, the 3,000' deep crater you peer down into is 7 miles long, 2 miles wide and 21 miles in circumference. Big enough to contain Manhattan! Included in Tour: Transportation up to Haleakala Summit (at an additional charge), crater viewing and a guided van tour (1-1 1/2 hours) of the park. You will start biking at 6500 feet, just outside the park entrance. Unguided Summit Deluxe Bike Tour
The Summit Deluxe leaves Haiku at approximately 9:00 am and takes you to Haleakala's 10,023 foot summit for a view of the crater and a narrated tour of Haleakala National Park, which includes the summit, crater, and visitor center. We stage at 6500' where you ride at your own pace back down to the store by 4:00pm.
